About KubeCraft
For people who want a DevOps role and need the proof to get it.
Mischa van den Burg created KubeCraft after moving from nursing into a senior DevOps role by building real systems in public. KubeCraft turns that path into a program: a personal roadmap, a homelab and projects you can show at enterprise-grade, several live coaching calls every week and a community of engineers doing the same work. It is run by KubeCraft B.V., a registered Dutch company (KvK 99136279).
Since 2024, 200+ members have shared their posts in the KubeCraft community that they landed a new DevOps, cloud, SRE or platform job (KubeCraft count, November 2026). We can’t include every DM, e-mail and conversation we had on this page about job landings through KubeCraft and Mischa’s content.Read their stories

Mischa van den Burg
Founder and lead mentor
Mischa worked as a nurse, with no computer science degree and a four-year gap on his CV. Computers weren’t new to him: he started coding in 2007 and taught himself Linux in 2014. Tutorials and certificates didn’t get him interviews. Real projects did: systems he deployed himself, a public record of the work, and mentors who told him what mattered.
In 2021 he got his first DevOps role. He became a senior DevOps engineer, earned 2 consecutive Microsoft MVP awards and the Kubestronaut title, and built a YouTube channel with about 130,000 subscribers. KubeCraft is the system he wanted when he couldn’t find one.

The KubeCraft Laws
5 rules behind how we teach, build and judge progress.
- 01
Proof beats promises.
A certificate shows you passed a test. A system you built and can explain shows you can do the job.
- 02
A season of no.
For a few months, you say no to distractions and side quests, so you can say yes to the role or the next evolution of your career.
- 03
Do one thing well.
One roadmap, one homelab, one next step. Not 10 tutorials at once.
- 04
What I cannot create, I do not understand.
After Richard Feynman. If you can’t build it yourself, you don’t understand it yet.
- 05
Show your work.
Build in public the KubeCraft way. Proof beats what you can say and we got it.
Who KubeCraft is for
Anyone serious about a DevOps role: engineers whose years in tech don’t count as proof yet, and people starting from scratch.
-
At the developer’s or tester’s desk
You write or test the code, next to the people who run it.
-
On the servers or the help desk
You keep the servers, the network or the help desk running.
-
DevOps on the badge
You have the title, without the depth behind it yet. You might be working with Windows or not using Kubernetes. The market decided what a DevOps Engineer is and you’re not aligned anymore.
-
Not in tech yet
You’re coming from another field and want a real way in. About 40% of members started without technical experience. It takes longer, but it can be done: one member went from managing a restaurant to a junior DevOps role.
-
Your role has an end date
Your contract ends in a few months. Or the layoff rumours won’t stop. You don’t want to be job hunting with no income, so you want your next role lined up before that happens.
What’s inside the program
The systems, used together.

How long has Mischa worked in DevOps?
Since 2021, when he got his first DevOps role. He started coding in 2007 and taught himself Linux in 2014 as a hobby.
What makes Mischa qualified to teach this?
A record you can check, and a route he took himself. Since his first DevOps role in 2021, Mischa has earned two consecutive Microsoft MVP awards and all five CNCF Kubernetes certifications, and published hundreds of public videos. He teaches the route as someone who took it recently, with a method he used on himself first.
Are Mischa’s credentials real?
Yes. Mischa received two consecutive Microsoft MVP awards, in May 2024 and July 2025. He holds all five CNCF Kubernetes certifications and is listed in the CNCF Kubestronaut directory, which you can search by name on the CNCF website.
Was Mischa really a nurse?
Yes. He worked as a nurse, with no computer science degree and a four-year gap on his CV, before his first DevOps role in 2021.
